Blueberry Mojito

18 Nov

It’s a Sunday night! Let’s play some games 😀

Ahh 🙂 That was fun.

Alright then, onwards! What you’ll need to make a Blueberry Mojito is of course blueberries, lemonade, and the standard lime, mint leaves, sugar, rum and soda water.

Blueberry Mojito - What You Need

F&N Soda Water; Waitrose Cloudy Lemonade; Bacardi Gold; Blueberries
On Plate: Lime; Sugar Cubes; Mint Leaves

The Recipe:
1 handful mint leaves
1 tbsp fresh lime juice
1 cube white sugar
1 handful blueberries
2 shots rum
2/3 glass lemonade
Club soda

So let’s get started! For this recipe, we use the juice of lime because there’ll already be blueberries, mint leaves and ice swimming around in the concoction, add further lime wedges and it’ll just look like a mess of stuff.

So first off, throw your handful of mint leaves and cube of sugar into your glass and top with a tablespoon of freshly squeezed lime juice. Muddle until your mint leaves turn a darker shade of green and all your sugar’s dissolved.

Blueberry Mojito - Muddle

Dump in lime juice, mint leaves and sugar. Muddle!

Next, grab a handful of blueberries and add it into the glass. Continue muddling until you’ve popped every last blueberry and mashed them into a pulp. (I really enjoyed this process. Think I got some kinda sick satisfaction from popping those beautiful berries, kinda like popping bubble wrap. Don’t judge me. Also, Bubble Wrap Maniac.)

Blueberry Mojito - Handful

Toss in a handful of blueberries and muddle

When you’re satisfied with your muddling, fill up your glass till full with ice, and then pour in the lemonade until your glass is 2/3 full. Next, add your double shots of rum, a splash of soda water and give everything a quick stir.

Blueberry Mojito - Pour

Lemonade! Soda Water! Rum!

Garnish with a sprig of mint and a wheel of lime, and top with a few more whole blueberries as desired. Serve immediately.

This is an optional step, but we floated a small splash of rum on the top before garnishing just to add a bit of a ka-pow to the first sips. The Blueberry Mojito is an absolute delight to drink!  Something you can swig all the way till dawn.
